I stole Leah away during the golden hour on her 16th birthday. She’s our babysitter for our kids and she’s amazing! She was having her birthday party that night at 7:30. I told her we’d only be shooting for 15-20 minutes and the timing was pretty important. I explained that I didn’t want to start shooting before 6:45 because the sun would be “too hot,” but I promised to have her home in time for her party. We made it just in time. She walked in the door at 7:15.
When I book my clients, I usually get the question “isn’t that going to be too late?” I LOVE to shoot until the sun dips below the horizon. It may sound corny, but that’s when the magic happens. Yep, that’s me CORNY! I love the glow during the last hour before the sun goes down. That’s why it’s called the golden hour. Timing is so important when it comes to a session. I will follow the sun just so I get it going behind the hillside or behind the trees. Give me all the glow!
